Nansen Model for Intercultural Education

Learning about our rights

During December 2018, the teachers Elena Popovska and Lindita Jusufi together with the students from the seventh grade carried out activities from the monthly topic My/our rights of the section Peace and Tolerance from the Annual program for intercultural extracurricular activities.

Topics included in the activities were: Rights in the family, Rights in school, Rights in my neighborhood, Rights in the environment. The students cooperated with each other through various games. They watched videos from UNICEF regarding the Convention on Children’s Rights. Also, on a poster, the students wrote their names or drew something that associates with their names as well as quotes related to children’s rights.

These activities aim at acquiring knowledge about the rights of the child, developing a logical, flexible, divergent and critical thinking among students, sensitizing students for respecting mutual differences as well as encouraging constructive collaborative relationships among students from different ethnic communities.
