May 2, 2018- One great way to enable positive socio-emotional climate in the classroom is to organize joint celebrations with the students. Understandably, the most favorite celebrations are birthdays of the students that are marked as part of the integrated intercultural activities as part of the Nansen model for intercultural education.
“After revealing the theme of the day, the students that mark their birthdays prepare the birthday table. The remaining students are divided into 4 groups and each group crafts bracelets and bead necklaces for the girls, and bracelets from elastic color sticks for the boys. After finishing with the designs, the handmade gifts are presented to the birthday students, followed by blowing of the candles and singing birthday songs in Macedonian, Albanian and English.” Radica Acevska and Mirsada Idrizi
